Cynical is putting it mildly when I think about politics, but I cannot help being please with the way this election is shaping up. Democrats have the House, and are withing reach of the Senate. I voted a straight Democratic ticket not so much from my belief in the integrity and quality of the Dems, but from and abiding and deep disgust with what Republicans have done with our country. My outrage had and has one outlet, not to for Democrats, but to vote against Republicans. This is undoubtedly a sentiment shared by millions of Americans who are simply hoping something will change for the better..
I couldn't help laughing upon recalling an interview I heard a week or so ago on NPR with Karl Rove. He was discussing his predictions for the elections with Robert Siegel. Mr Siegel brought up polls that were indicating Dems would take the House and possibly the Senate. Rove stated that Siegel was entitled tto "his" math while Rove was entitled to "THE" math.. Well shit Mr. Rove it has become pretty clear that your math is the same brand that was sure of the WOMD's in Iraq, that estimated the total cost of the Iraq war at $60 Billion when it's possible it could end up being upwards of $2 Trillion.
"- a war the president's budget office originally reckoned would cost $60 billion. Today, researchers at the conservative American Enterprise Institute and Stiglitz and Bilms estimate the total cost to the American public at between $1 trillion and $2 trillion."
I guess it's not that surprising coming from a group of wacky old men who think think they have a mandate from god... FOR FUCKING CHRISTS SAKE... and I mean that Christ... God.. Krishna anyone??!! calling all deities.. do you really want these guys pulling for you..
Their math is a sort of faith based math.. which is sort of noble and Zen (and frighteningly similiar to some Physics theories) in a bizzare way.. But the idea that we shape our reality through our own perceptions of it scares the shit out of me when I think about the sick and demented way in which these powerful men and women perceive reality and proceed to shove it down our throats. When they believe their reality is "THE" Reality, there is no room for my reality, your reality.. and what is our reality but our right to think, dream, live...
